Entry 24 : Discussion with Technician

 ENTRY #24 

Today a meeting was finally conducted with my assigned technician Mr.Imran Mohammed. We discussed the following topics : 

- General Function and workings of the machine 

- Materials that are already readily available in the workshop 

-Bearings change due to the availability of the bearing previous. Essentially we changed the thrust bearings used for shaft 2 from regular thrust bearings to a Surface-mounted bearing. This will also increase the rigidity of the overall system. 

- Selection of motor: From previous calculations, we have determined that a 1-2hp motor would be enough to have the rotational speed and torque for the operation of all tools. Whiles in the workshop today we determined that a 1.5hp, 1750rpm maximum motor would be ideal as it is small in size and capable of variable speeds. 

The images below are basic dimensions and Nameplate fo the selected motor :

-Further discussion of the Materials that might be changed was dine concerning the legs of the frame and how the different materials may differ. 

- Finally, we considered follow-up work days where I will go help the technician to ensure progress is being made efficiently.

In all consideration to the discussions had certain follow up activities would have to be done : 

- Draw new parts such as the Surface mount bearings 

- Adjust materials listing 

- Make an appointment for further Campus access 

-Get a work Planner from the Cheif Technician from Mr.Maxwell 

A meeting with my Supervisor was then scheduled to further discuss and update each other
