Entry 32 : Completion and testing of the prototype & simulations completion

 Entry #32

The final product was completed with the assembly of belts and its electrical such as the switch panel, and the final product was ready for testing.

The electrical switch panel is shown below :

The procedure used is mentioned in the manufacturing process above but includes processes such as safety functionality, basic testing of tooling operations and testing of the rigidity of the machine. As these tests were run it was clear that further development will help maximize the satisfaction of the tool to its given task. In conducting all these test safety was placed first and using the correct PPE attire and appropriate testing location safe from by-standards and other hazards.

The results of initial testing includes observations such as the drill supports are not as rigid as intended, this may be due to the method of mounting where glue is used . Another observed fault is the inability to reverse the rotation of the drill meaning only hole cutting operations can be done its its forward rotation . Lastly observed the lack of countersinks in the table top allowed for bolts and nuts to obscure the path of materials being cut and this concludes faults found in the basic testing of tool operation. However minor faults the tools still operated at there rated R.p.m.and performed their objective in full . Safety functionality was also deemed valid as the switch panel wired in allowed for quick disconnect of all power to the system bringing all machine operations to a halt.

Images of the final product is shown below :

Updating the report the manufacturing process and the simulations have been completed and submitted for corrections by my supervisor. A meeting was held recently where corrections such as grammatical issues and formating flaws were pointed out however this was all rectified in previous parts .
