Entry #35 : FINAL SUBMISSION OF REPORT

ENTRY #34  With the help of my supervisor, moderator, and second examiner throughout this year of working on this project I have completed and submitted the Final Report of my project.  Soon I would have to submit my poster and a 20minute presentation selling my project and justifying what I have done. These are the final steps and today a submitted draft of the poster is sent in. On April the 14th I would have successfully completed my project.  This project has been a large learning opportunity for me, not only knowledge of engineering but also learning new things about myself such as the passion I have for working with my hands and building/fabricating.  This project has helped further my passion for engineering and soon I will be in the working world applying these theories learned to solve real-world problems.  I am forever grateful for this experience at The University of the West Indies, St.Agustine and i look forward to using these disciplines in r...

Entry # 34 : Final Draft submission and last corrections

ENTRY #34   The final submission of my completed project was handed in for review by the technician. Corrections that followed were noted as :  -Grammatical Errors - Justify formatting  - Minimize the use of pauses and full stops in abstract and project summary  Thankfully this feedback was given in a timely matter and these issues were further rectified. The completed Final report was then proofread and pending submission.  The presentation of the project was then worked on, this includes the Logbook update,Poster, and the presentation video. The completed first draft of each of these areas is to be sent in by the 11th of April to the supervisor for an overview.

Entry #33 : Final meeting with the supervisor

ENTRY # 33  Today a short meeting was helped by my supervisor, Dr.Kudleep, where my discussion was submitted and a final review of the previous parts was given. This meeting pointed out flaws such as :  - grammatical issues  - Formatting issued  - Lack of a testing and validation phase  - Improve in project future scope  Taking these points into consideration the problems were further rectified and the completing parts such as abstract, future scope and acknowledgments were done. This meeting was conducted both over email and what's app and lasted approximately 30mins . The final draft is to be sent in on Friday the 8th of April where the following corrections would be done over the weekend and submission done the following Monday.

Entry #32  The final product was completed with the assembly of belts and its electrical such as the switch panel, and the final product was ready for testing.  The electrical switch panel is shown below :  The procedure used is mentioned in the manufacturing process above but includes processes such as safety functionality, basic testing of tooling operations and testing of the rigidity of the machine. As these tests were run it was clear that further development will help maximize the satisfaction of the tool to its given task. In conducting all these test safety was placed first and using the correct PPE attire and appropriate testing location safe from by-standards and other hazards.  The results of initial testing includes observations such as the drill supports are not as rigid as intended, this may be due to the method of mounting where glue is used . Another observed fault is the inability to reverse the rotation of the drill meaning only hole cutting o...
